Training Update

30 January 2023

Thank you to Karen Dynan, Training and Volunteer Manager, for this update.

Young leaders at Waterside Centre have been participating in a young leaders course that will potentially enable them to complete the Level 1 in youth work. (See the photo above from one of their recent activities, when they needed to work out the smallest amount of newspaper they could all be in contact with but not touching the floor!)

Staff and volunteers have also completed both Universal Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid at Work courses.

We still have vacancies on the following courses running at Watlington House, Reading:

9 February – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – 6.30 – 9.30pm

16 February – Emergency First Aid at Work – 9am – 5pm

22 February – Awareness in First Aid for Mental Health – 9am -1pm

6 March – First Aid Skills Refresher – 6.30 – 9.30pm.
Has it been a while since you did your first aid course, want to refresh your skills and confidence? Then this is the course for you! There will be lots of practical activities.

7 March – First Aid Skills Refresher – 10am -1pm
(This is a repeat of the above course)

18 March – Introduction to Youth Work – 9am -12pm

18 March – Communication and Group Work Skills – 1 -4pm

If you are interested in the above but cannot make the date, please let us know and we can either let you know when the next course is or add an extra date/s. Please email training@berkshireyouth.co.uk.
