Waterside – October 2022

New youth worker, Kenmore, tells us more about the new Waterside youth café:
Youth Café
“One of the things I have found enjoyable as part of my new role as a youth worker at Berkshire Youth is being involved with the Youth Café sessions held at Waterside Centre.
“The Youth Café is an opportunity for young people in and around the area to connect with other young people in a safe and welcoming setting, where they have the opportunity to socialise with their peers over various activities such as board and card games, table tennis and video games. The Berkshire Youth team are on hand throughout the session to offer advice and support for any of the young people who are attending the sessions, through discussion as and when needed. We also have Young Leaders who are involved with the project, as we endeavour to empower and promote peer based input within our projects – beneficial to the young people as well as the youth workers… they make an amazing hot chocolate to go with your free slice of cake!
“The Youth Café had been running fortnightly previously. Due to its popularity, we have now decided to run these sessions on a weekly basis. We constantly look for input and suggestions from our young people on other activities, as well as food and beverage choices, to be added to the menu which could be introduced to the sessions in the future. The sessions will re-commence from Wednesday 2 November, 4.30 – 6pm.
Youth Music Nights
We are looking forward to holding our third Youth Music Night on Saturday 26 November, from 4pm onwards.
Join Us!
Local people are invited to come along to watch the young performers – it will be a great night! There’s no need to pre-book and it’s free to attend, although all donations will be gratefully received and used to support musical opportunities for local young people. There will also be delicious refreshments available to purchase on the night (provided by the ever-popular Colline’s Kitchen). Please contact Berkshire Maestros with any queries you may have: hello@berkshiremaestros.org.uk.
Sponsorship Opportunity
If you are a local business interested in sponsoring this event, or future events, please contact Kelly: kelly.leach@berkshireyouth.co.uk.
